During the summer of 2013, I directed a 64-foot public mural project in which over 60 youth ages 6 to 18 participated. The youth, members of the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington, executed all steps of the 12-week project, priming panels, composing initial drawings, tracing projections, color mixing, painting, and applying finish.
In CARDBOARD CITY, youth spent the summer of 2012 conceiving and creating their own model city from recycled materials. The project culminated in a public installation of the kids’ own city inside of Bloomington’s city hall. Funding for the project was generously provided by a grant from the Bloomington Arts Commission.
